Students and Graduates Pitch Their Ideas Against Peter Saville for Kanye Wests New ‘Visual Identity’

A recent announcement in Dezeen that Kanye West has pegged legendry Joy Division designer, Peter Saville, as the one to come up with a visual identity for him has stirred the design community’s curiosity.

The collaboration is an open-ended one with Saville providing only a few clues to what he might be working on. "We're looking at ways of writing 'Kanye West, what does 'Kanye' and 'Kanye West' look like written down?"

Other references have also linked to Cassandre's 1961 logo for Yves Saint Laurent.

This has prompted a London based startup, Concept Cupboard, to launch its own competition asking its community of student and graduate creatives to come up with their own ideas for what Kanyes visual identity should look like. Can some of the brightest and best young designers come up with something more popular the iconic Peter Saville? We’ll have to wait and see.

The competition is running until the 1st October and is open to any UK based students and graduates and can be found here:
